Software Development Director

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The Product Development team has an opening for a Software Development Director. As an experienced software product development manager you will work closely with Product Management to organize, plan, schedule and track development projects to meet market requirements in a timely manner. You will be responsible for the estimating and supervision of development projects, including resource allocation and prioritization necessary to meet release schedules. You will also conduct reviews of functional specifications and designs as well as ensuring that all issues arising from these reviews are resolved.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years experience, including at least 5 years experience in leading a product development team, and strong working knowledge of project management, object oriented design, .NET/C#, SQL Server, web technologies, TCP/IP protocols, and Windows operating systems. We are looking for a team-oriented individual who possesses strong development process and excellent communication skills and who is able to work effectively with systems-level, and communications-level software.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • Leader of a product development team
  • Organize, estimate, schedule, and manage delivery of software to meet market requirements
  • Manage and participate in design reviews
  • Prioritize, assign development resources, and supervise project completion
  • Responsible for tracking, assignment, and resolution of software defects
  • Participate in architecture & design decisions affecting the product
  • Ability to work in high-demand, and rapidly-changing environment.

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of software product development management experience
  • 10+ years of C/C++/Java development experience
  • Experience with .NET Web services, XML, Visual SourceSafe and Visual Studio
  • Thorough understanding of OOD, interface and component programming, and agile development process
  • Working knowledge of network programming, and network protocols: IP, HTTP, SOAP, ICMP/TCP/UDP, SMTP and DNS
  • Must have experience with either systems/network management or high-performance databases
  • Excellent general software development and engineering process skills
  • Working knowledge of SQL database design and development skills
  • Excellent analytical skills, outspoken and enthusiastic, as well as self motivated
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • This position requires a minimum of a BSc. in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
